H.1: Family Matters

Previously: we completed the Baby Momma Challenge! Unfortunately, while Georgia was born, Nicklaus died… Dalmazia became a teen.

Nicklaus’s funeral is held only some days after Georgia’s birth. Many people are present and bring their condolences to Virginia, who can’t believe what happened. She never really thought that Nicklaus could die – that she could have already died if it wasn’t for Amerigo’s potion – and she hasn’t fully realized who and what she has lost.

A horrible period starts for her. She can’t sleep at night, and when she actually closes her eyes, she only dreams of her husband’s death.

And Georgia’s green eyes only reminds her of him. She doesn’t like the baby: she is the child that her husband wanted with another woman, she is the child who is completely useless for her research, and, unfortunately, she also is a child she has to look after. She doesn’t like to care for a girl who isn’t even hers, but she doesn’t have a choice, so she tries to dedicated to Georgia the shortest possible amount of time.

But she continues to care for her other children with readiness, organizing partied with the entire family for Florence’s first birthday.

Again, Virginia notes that the girl really looks like her, and Florence immediately starts showing a great talent for the xylophone.

Florence also become Virginia’s confident about her problems with the baby, Georgia, and the pain for Nicklaus’s loss.

But there’s no time to grieve: soon another party is held for Eufrate…

…who becomes the ugliest child ever. Virginia doesn’t understand how this is possible: she is nice and pretty, like almost all her children were, and Kenji, Eufrate’s father, wasn’t that ugly. But this child doesn’t even has a real nose! And he likes to paint his face like a tiger and going around in orange clothes with black stripes… Virginia hopes that he is only shocked for his adoptive father’s death, and that this phase will pass.

Georgia’s first birthday arrives, and to avoid the comments from people, Virginia is forced to organize a party for the baby, too.

To her great dismay, Georgia is a cute toddler, with a beautiful caffelatte skin.

But there are big surprises at the party: Croazia announces that she and Ethan, her school sweetheart, are expecting. She admits that it was an accident, and that she and Ethan married only because of this, but Virginia is happy nonetheless: in fact, this is an extra opportunity for her genetic studies, as she will have grandchildren to examine, too.

But Croazia isn’t the only pregnant one! Barcelona and her new boyfriend, Shad, are having a child, too! Virginia is overjoyed.

And some months after, she welcomes in the world his first two grandchildren, Zane, Barcelona’s baby boy, and Michele, Croazia’s. During a visit to Croazia’s, that has moved with Ethan right next to her, Virginia meets Michele for the first time, and has a long chat with Ethan.

She discovers that he and Croazia doesn’t like each other at all: actually, they would like to divorce, but they can’t until Michele is a little older. Virginia can’t help to think that this is exactly what happens when you marry, especially if you do so only because you fell pregnant. She also think that this could be an interesting opportunity for her… who knows how a child who is brother to her grandchild would look like?

She invites Ethan to a movie, but they don’t look much of it… but Virginia has to remind herself that she isn’t doing anything wrong, and that, anyway, Ethan and Croazia hate each other…
